Ways to promote your article:
1) Blog Comments
Our website is through wordpress.com. The easiest way to get your article seen is to use proper hashtags while writing your article, and to visit and comment on similar wordpress articles and blogs. Make a wordpress account. Search for tags like "Tabletop Gaming" or "Dungeons and Dragons" or "Video Games" and read through one of the random articles through the Wordpress Reader. Make sure your comments are insightful, funny, and interesting. Most authors will respond to your comment. 1 in 5 will read your article in return. And a few of those will start following your work.
If I sit down to network with other bloggers I'll make it my goal to read/comment on 10 blogs per hour. At 400-1000 words per blog entry this can be challenging, but worthwhile.
2) Forums
Posting in forums of a similar vein to your articles is a good way to get outside readers. For example, when I was writing on Masksofmonsters.wordpress I would frequent Reaper-Miniatures forum for tips on painting and scratch-building. A few of the regulars would see what I was working on and follow my profile links to my personal blog.
3) Twitter/Facebook
If you're not already posting your articles to facebook so friends can see the amazing insights you've had, then you're doing it wrong. Post jokes and noteworthy quotes from your articles to Twitter, Tumblr, and any other microblog you frequent.
